Maintenance Technician

Who is Luxfer Magtech?  Glad you asked.  Luxfer Magtech manufactures products that safeguard and protect:  our troops, first responders and those that are in need after a disaster strikes.  We make flameless ration heaters that heat the meal for a soldier in the field.  These same FRHs are used to heat our self-heating HeaterMeals®.  In times of crisis, we supply meals to the Red Cross and other first responders to give to those in need so they can have a hot meal. Finally, we protect our soldiers by making Chemical Response Kits to detect or decontaminate possible chemical exposure.  We need Maintenance Technicians who want to help us in our mission to Safeguard and Protect those that protect us in our greatest times of need.  The following is a list of the responsibilities and requirements for the Maintenance Technician position.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Installs new equipment/machinery as required.
  • Diagnoses problems with existing equipment/machinery including. Performs both mechanical and electric repairs on all equipment/machinery using blueprints, schematics, diagrams, etc.
  • Performs all fabrication, electrical repairs, including installation and service of single phase and 480 volt – 3-phase electric.
  • Knowledge of PLC and Robotic controls
  • Maintains and repairs all plant and office facilities in an efficient and safe manner.
  • Responsible for reporting material and parts usage for the department; reports all new parts requests.
  • Follows all Company safety procedures, safe work and good housekeeping practices.
  • Participates in and supports the Company’s Continuous Improvement programs.
  • Replace, fix or realign machine parts and accessories in line with production specifications or give recommendations to supervisor on repair requirements
  • This position description is not intended to be all-inclusive.  The incumbent may be required to perform other duties as required by the position and/or department supervision.

QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:

  • Adherence to health and safety regulations (e.g. constant use of protective gear)
  • Analytical skills and attention to detail
  • Teamwork, strong communication and problem-solving skills
  • At least four (4) years’ experience in an industrial environment or equivalent combination of education or training beyond high school level in a technical field.
  • Good physical condition which requires:  prolonged standing; frequent repetitive lifting up to 55 lbs.; frequent lifting and bending motions, and carrying up to 55 lbs.; frequent repetitive motions such as bending, twisting, lifting, walking, reaching, stooping, frequent use of stairs; must be able to climb ladders and use lift trucks.  Able to work at heights up to 50 feet.
  • Must pass pre-employment physical and drug/alcohol test.
